Slovakia Launches National Plan for Responsible Use of AI in Schools

Education Minister Tomáš Drucker (Voice-SD) announced Slovakia’s National Plan for the Responsible Use of AI in Education at UNESCO’s Digital Learning Week 2025 in Paris. Speaking at a ministerial meeting, Drucker said the plan responds to an “already here” reality. He noted that 70% of Slovak pupils already use AI for school tasks, while only a quarter of teachers currently integrate it into lessons.

The initiative will focus on teacher support, AI training for students starting in the 2026-2027 school year, scholarships for future educators, and the creation of AI “centres of excellence” in higher education between 2026 and 2029. The goal is for every Slovak student to gain a basic understanding of AI by 2026.
