After Monday’s coalition council meeting, details of next year’s consolidation measures remain unclear. Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenický (Smer-SD) said talks are ongoing and will continue on Thursday, with a final agreement possible by the end of the week. He confirmed the measures will be presented to the government on September 3.
According to Kamenický, the coalition has already resolved simpler issues and is now negotiating the final framework, including how much individual ministries will be required to save. The planned package is divided into revenue, expenditure, and state spending cuts. He also revealed that part of the government’s energy price support should be financed through EU funds. The consolidation plan is seen as key for stabilizing public finances.
