Foreign Ministry Marks 80 Years of UN with Bratislava Photo Exhibition

Slovakia’s Foreign Ministry opened a public photo exhibition in Bratislava on Monday to mark the upcoming 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, celebrated on October 24. The exhibition, located in the park on Vajanského nábrežie, presents a historical overview of the UN’s evolution, its role in maintaining peace, delivering humanitarian aid, advancing education, combating poverty, and promoting human rights. It also highlights Slovakia’s contributions within the organization, illustrated through photographs from key international events.

Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD) emphasized the need to return to respect for international law and the UN Charter, recalling Slovak diplomats Ján Papánek and Vladimír Hurban as part of the UN’s founding generation. The opening was attended by dozens of ambassadors and diplomats. The exhibition is open to the public free of charge until September 7.
