Slovakia’s coalition council has agreed on compensations for gas, heating, and electricity prices for households in 2026, covering 90% of Slovak homes. Prime Minister Robert Fico said without them, energy prices would rise by a third, calling this unacceptable. The measures will cost the state budget €435 million. Fico also rejected claims of a planned VAT increase, calling them false.
