Slovak firefighters will be stationed in Montpellier, France, in the second half of August to assist local crews if wildfires exceed regional capacities, the Fire and Rescue Corps (HaZZ) announced on social media.
The ground firefighting module was dispatched on Thursday and includes two members of the Czech Fire Rescue Service. According to HaZZ, the EU has assembled a team of 583 firefighters from 13 countries, strategically pre-positioned this summer in key locations across Europe – in France, Greece, Portugal, and Spain.
The Slovak contingent will be deployed in France from August 16 to 31.
