Bratislava Airport to Offer 12 New Destinations in Winter Season

From November 14, Bratislava’s M. R. Štefánik Airport will offer flights to 12 new destinations. Low-cost airline Wizz Air will expand its footprint at the airport, placing two Airbus A321neo aircraft there. In the winter season, it will also open flights from Bratislava to Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland and Norway. This step will increase the number of passengers handled by approximately one million per year.

The new air routes will be Athens, Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga, Basel, Lamezia Terme, Naples, Palermo, Niš, Plovdiv, Varna, and Oslo from mid-November and December. At the same time, from October 28 this year, the airline will also fly from Bratislava to Bucharest. After 15 years, the connection with Switzerland will also be restored, as flights to Basel from Bratislava were last operated in 2010.

General Director of the airport Dušan Novota added that the expansion of air routes will also have a positive impact on jobs, as the two new aircraft require a staff of approximately 27 to 30 people. The increase in passengers will also bring new job opportunities for Bratislava itself in the areas of transport, gastronomy and accommodation services.
