The first court ruling in the state’s lawsuit demanding the return of a €27.2 million subsidy from the National Football Stadium (NFŠ) is expected at the end of October, company lawyers announced Monday.
According to NFŠ representatives, preliminary assessments in two cases – including one where NFŠ is suing the state for damages – have so far rejected the state’s key arguments. Two more lawsuits, over the purchase price and contractual penalties, are yet to be heard.
NFŠ claims its demands against the state now exceed €100 million, increasing by nearly €1 million monthly. The company says even the Finance Ministry’s own legal opinions from 2023 and 2024 cast doubt on the state’s position.
NFŠ board chairman Pavel Komorník expressed readiness to settle, calling the dispute the result of flawed analysis and government decisions in 2020, when the state refused to buy the stadium’s non-commercial section and demanded the subsidy’s return. Construction began in 2016 under a 2013 agreement without a public tender.
