The Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth to Support Projects Improving University Students' Mental Health

The Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic will support projects aimed at improving the mental health of university students through a call for proposals. In total, more than €6 million will be allocated to develop counselling services, improve access to mental health support for students, and strengthen professional capacities.

The ministry will fund projects to create or expand psychological counselling and psychotherapy services at universities, as well as counselling for international students. Universities will use the funds to train staff in inclusion and mental health and to develop a student “buddy system” – a peer support network that helps students adapt to university life and stay in their studies.

The call also covers the monitoring and evaluation of student counselling services provided by universities and supports community-building and relaxation activities for students.

A total of €5.4 million has been allocated from the Slovakia Eurofund Program, with €1.4 million earmarked for the Bratislava region and €4 million for other regions of Slovakia.
