“The Story of Illustration” (Príbeh ilustrácie) is the name of a major exhibition opened on Thursday by Bibiana – the International House of Art for Children. It invites visitors of all ages into the world of fantasy, children's imagination, and international book illustration. The exhibition was launched on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Bratislava Biennial of Illustration.
This new exhibition offers a unique insight into the world of children’s book illustration and traces its development over the decades.
Designed for both children and adults, the exhibition is thematically divided into several sections. Visitors can explore a gallery of the oldest and newest illustrations, delve into the world of black-and-white illustration, and journey through fables, myths, fairy tales, and encounters with heroes and animal friends.
The exhibition will run until January 4, 2026.
