Slovak Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas-SD) met with his Croatian counterpart Davor Božinović on Monday in Crikvenica to discuss strengthening cooperation between police and fire services. Eštok visited Slovak police officers stationed in Croatia under the “Safe Tourist Destination” project, which has supported Slovak tourists since 2008. Deployed in two rotations between July 1st and August 29th, these officers, working jointly with Croatian police, assist Slovak tourists with legal matters, traffic incidents, translations, and document completion.
Currently, police from 26 countries operate in Croatia during the tourist season. A bilateral meeting between fire service leaders was also held in Crikvenica, resulting in planned joint training and exercises. Discussions included expanding cross-border cooperation based on a 2003 agreement on disaster assistance.
