Parliamentary Chair Richard Raši (Hlas-SD) met Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili on Tuesday (July 29) on the sidelines of the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments in Switzerland.
During their meeting, the two officials praised the friendly relations between the two countries and discussed the opportunities to intensify inter-parliamentary cooperation, while also exploring the potential for cooperation in economic areas, including in the energy sector.
Papuashvili thanked Slovakia for supporting Georgia's territorial integrity as well as his country's aspirations for a European future. He also expressed appreciation for supportive statements made by Slovak representatives within the European Union.
In this connection, Raši emphasised Slovakia's unwavering support for Georgia's European prospects.
The three-day event has been organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). Before leaving for the conference, Raši said that during his speech he wanted to promote stronger multilateralism and talk about the role of parliaments in promoting democracy, peace, and stability in the world.
