Education Ministry partners with Microsoft to boost AI in schools

The Slovak Ministry of Education has signed a memorandum of understanding with Microsoft Slovakia to promote the use of artificial intelligence in schools. The partnership aims to simplify teachers’ work, boost digital skills, and ensure equal access to AI innovations.

Education Minister Tomáš Drucker (Hlas-SD) said AI should be a practical and safe tool to support teachers – not replace them. The collaboration will focus on making AI tools like Microsoft Copilot widely available to help educators with lesson planning, administration, and teaching materials.

A key part of the project is localising AI tools and lessons into Slovak, including AI-themed modules in Minecraft Education to engage students through interactive learning.

Microsoft’s Country Manager Michal Stachník emphasised the need to educate children about AI’s risks and advocated for a dedicated school subject on AI and cybersecurity.
