Leo Express plans train route between Belgium and Slovakia

Czech railway company Leo Express has applied in Belgium to operate a train route connecting Belgium and Slovakia. According to Belgian news agency Belga, the proposed service would start in the coastal city of Ostend and end in Bratislava.

In Belgium, the train would stop in cities including Bruges, Ghent, Brussels, Leuven, and Liège. It would then continue through Germany, with stops in Aachen, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Hanover, Magdeburg, Leipzig, and Dresden. In the Czech Republic, only Prague is explicitly mentioned. On Slovak territory, the train would stop in Kúty, Malacky, Devínska Nová Ves, and finally in Bratislava.

The full journey would include over 50 stops and take approximately 19 hours.

Leo Express has proposed to launch the service on December 13, 2026. The train would depart Ostend at 19:10 and arrive in Bratislava the following day at 14:18. In the opposite direction, it would depart Bratislava at 14:44 and arrive in Ostend the next morning at 09:52.

As Belga notes, the distance between Bratislava and Ostend is more than 1,000 kilometers in a straight line.
