Eurojust has praised the international cooperation in July that led to the detention of a man in Dnipro, Ukraine, suspected of making bomb threats to schools in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and other EU countries in September 2024.
The man was detained in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro during a high-risk operation involving Slovak, Czech, Ukrainian, and Latvian authorities. Eurojust highlighted the strong coordination despite the challenges posed by Dnipro’s proximity to the front line.
Czech and Slovak police participated in house searches where digital evidence was seized. The Ukrainian suspect was later released pending further steps. Czech intelligence believes a Russian actor may have financed the threats—a claim Slovakia’s interior minister criticized as potentially harmful to the ongoing investigation.
