40 participants in the National Defence Forces (NOS) pilot training program took their oath on Sunday (July 20) at Bradlo Hill, near the General M. R. Štefánik Memorial. Among them were President Peter Pellegrini and Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Robert Kaliňák (Smer-SD).
President Pellegrini noted that while the training pushed participants to their physical and mental limits, the toughest challenge still lay ahead: a 24-hour final exercise in the wilderness starting Monday.
Defence Minister Robert Kaliňák welcomed the surge of public interest in the National Defence Forces (NOS), noting that thousands have already submitted applications. Those who complete the training and meet their service obligations will receive a soldier’s salary according to their rank, along with a subsidy. The Defence Ministry has also pledged further benefits to support recruits.
