Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas-SD) says Slovak police followed investigator instructions when announcing the detention of a Ukrainian man linked to school bomb threats in Slovakia and the Czechia last year. He stressed that only confirmed facts were shared; working hypotheses, such as a possible Russian link, were never intended for disclosure.
The joint operation in Dnipro, Ukraine, involved Czech and Ukrainian authorities. According to Czech security services, the suspect had targeted multiple European countries and was likely financed by a Russian actor. Czech officials reportedly criticised Slovakia for withholding this information.
Opposition parties accused the minister of mishandling communication, causing international embarrassment. Šutaj Eštok rejected these claims and warned that uncontrolled leaks, including those in Czech media, could jeopardise the investigation.
