Slovakia is committed to promoting international cooperation and peace diplomacy, State Secretary Marek Eštok said during talks with UN Assistant Secretary-General Miroslav Jenča in Bratislava. He highlighted Slovakia’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2028–to 2029 and its candidacy for the Human Rights Council in 2032–2034.
The officials discussed global security challenges, stressing the importance of preventive diplomacy and conflict prevention. Both agreed that multilateralism is under strain and reforms of international institutions are increasingly needed.
Jenča, who oversees UN peace and security efforts in Europe, Central Asia, and the Americas, emphasized that preventive diplomacy remains essential to global peace—one of UN Secretary-General António Guterres’s key priorities.
