Slovakia has once again blocked the adoption of the 18th package of sanctions against Russia, demanding guarantees from the European Commission regarding the RePowerEU plan. This involves ending Russian gas deliveries to the EU by 2028, which, according to the government of Robert Fico, could endanger the Slovak economy. Representatives of the European Commission met with Slovak officials last week, but according to the Foreign Ministry, the country's fundamental concerns have not yet been addressed. Slovakia, however, has declared its willingness to continue the dialogue with the aim of finding an acceptable solution.
