Student visa applicants to the US must now make their social media profiles public

The U.S. Embassy in Slovakia has issued new guidance for all applicants seeking non-immigrant F, M, or J visas — that is, student and exchange program visas. Effective immediately, applicants are requested to change the privacy settings on all their social media accounts to “public.”

This measure is intended to assist U.S. authorities in verifying applicants’ identities and assessing their eligibility to enter the United States in accordance with current U.S. laws.
