President Peter Pellegrini will travel to Zagreb on Tuesday, July 1, for an official visit to Croatia at the invitation of Croatian President Zoran Milanović. The purpose of the visit is to reaffirm strong bilateral relations and promote the development of economic cooperation. The two presidents are also expected to discuss current foreign policy issues.
According to the Presidential Office, this marks the first visit by a Slovak head of state to Croatia in eight years—and the first official visit in thirteen.
Accompanying the president on the one-day trip will be Economy Minister Denisa Saková and Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (both Hlas-SD). Together with President Milanović, Pellegrini will open the Slovak-Croatian Business Forum, which will bring together a delegation of nearly 30 Slovak companies.
During the visit, President Pellegrini will also hold talks with Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. “The core focus of the meetings will be on enhancing cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, defence and security, NATO collaboration, EU enlargement in the Western Balkans, migration, the green transition, and artificial intelligence,” the office stated.
President Pellegrini will also lay a wreath at the Homeland Memorial, paying tribute to the victims and heroes of Croatia’s fight for independence. He is also scheduled to meet with members of the Slovak expatriate community in Croatia.
