Parents eligible for short-term care benefits during summer break

Parents insured by the Social Insurance Institution remain eligible for short-term care benefits during the summer holidays if their child’s nursery/kindergarten is closed. To claim the benefit, a form must be filled out on the institution’s website, confirmed by both the nursery/kindergarten and the employer, and then submitted to the Social Insurance Office.

The benefit, which cannot be split into multiple parts, is granted for a fixed period of 14 consecutive calendar days.

The allowance also applies if the child becomes ill during the holidays. In such cases, entitlement is again limited to a maximum of 14 days.
