President congratulates students as school year ends

President Peter Pellegrini congratulated students across Slovakia on receiving their final report cards on Friday, the last day of the school year. “You’ve completed a year full of challenges and gained valuable experiences. Now it’s time to enjoy a well-deserved holiday,” he said on social media. He also thanked teachers for their dedication and for passing on their knowledge.

According to the Education Ministry, around 519,000 primary and 222,000 secondary school students are receiving their end-of-year evaluations, including over 62,000 first-graders getting their first report cards. The ministry also reminded families that a child’s value is not defined by grades.

Over 2,300 primary and 780 secondary schools will close for the summer from June 30. Students and nearly 64,000 teachers will return to classrooms on September 1.
