Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico spoke by phone on Wednesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, exchanging views on current issues, the Slovak government’s press office reported. Fico welcomed the “hard-fought ceasefire between Israel and Iran,” emphasizing that Slovakia has always supported peaceful solutions, respect for international law, and the principle that diplomacy must prevail. He added that Slovakia opposes proposals to halt dialogue between the EU and Israel under their association agreement, stating, “We need communication channels and it is not possible to completely stop dialogue, as we see in relation to the Russian Federation.” Fico and Netanyahu agreed that their mutual communication will continue, highlighting the constructive and historically rooted relations between Slovakia and Israel, where a large Slovak diaspora resides.
