Slovakia to chair Slavkov Format from July 2025

Slovakia will assume the rotating presidency of the Slavkov (also known as Austerlitz) Format (S3) from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026. Slovakia’s priorities will include energy security, EU enlargement to the Western Balkans, transport infrastructure, digital transformation, and development cooperation.

Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (Smer-SSD) formally took over the presidency from the Czech Republic during a meeting with Czech and Austrian counterparts on the side-lines of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels on Monday. He emphasized that the Slavkov Format, marking its 10th anniversary, plays an important role in regional cooperation, built on strong geographic, historical, and economic ties.

The Slavkov Format is an informal partnership between Slovakia, Austria, and the Czech Republic, aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and launching joint initiatives. It was established on January 29, 2015, when the prime ministers of Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Austria signed the Slavkov Declaration in Slavkov u Brna.
