Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD) on Thursday expressed his condolences to the families and close ones of the victims of the plane crash in the Indian city of Ahmedabad.
A Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner heading for London's Gatwick Airport crashed into the Meghani Nagar borough of Ahmedabad, hitting a student dormitory building. According to Air India, there were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese and one Canadian, plus two pilots and ten crew members on board. Among the passengers were 11 children. Many residents at the dormitory were also killed. It was India's worst air disaster in several decades. One passenger is said to have survived.
"It is with great sorrow that I heard the news about the tragic plane crash near the Indian city of Ahmedabad. I would like to express my sincere condolences to the families and close ones of the deceased and wish a speedy recovery to all those injured. I also wish a great deal of strength to the rescue teams and volunteers who are currently responding at the scene," Blanár posted on social media.
