In response to a sharp rise in residence permit applications, the Interior Ministry is expanding services at the Foreign Police. Starting Monday, June 9, 15 new service desks will open across the country.
The new offices aim to speed up the processing of residence applications. They will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Authorities estimate that they will process around 260 applications per day.
The largest expansion will be in Bratislava, where five new desks will open. Other cities—including Dunajská Streda, Trnava, Nitra, Nové Zámky, Banská Bystrica, Žilina, Ružomberok, Košice, Michalovce, and Prešov—will each receive one new service point.
Appointments remain mandatory and can be booked seven days in advance through the reservation system.
In response to continued needs of Ukrainian refugees, two additional service desks dedicated to temporary protection applications will open in both Michalovce and Košice. These desks will operate daily from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with bookings available five days ahead.
The ministry is also making booking easier, allowing reservations up to 40 days in advance and introducing a simplified form to speed up the process.
