Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico informed European Council President António Costa that Slovakia's parliament has passed a resolution urging government ministers not to support EU sanctions against Russia if they harm Slovakia’s national interests.
Fico also voiced opposition to the European Commission’s proposal to fully ban imports of Russian gas, oil, and nuclear fuel, calling it an "ideological adventure" without proper impact assessments, particularly for countries like Slovakia and Hungary.
He further urged the EU to include strong peace messages and to call for a ceasefire in Ukraine in the conclusions of the June 26 EU summit.
