Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) is due to open the ninth meeting of Slovak honorary consuls on Wednesday (4 June), which will be attended by more than a hundred Slovak honorary consuls working in countries around the world.
The gathering will take place after a seven-year break, but the Foreign Ministry views it as one of the most important events that it organises.
The honorary consuls will meet President Peter Pellegrini and Parliamentary Chair Richard Rasi (Hlas-SD) during the three-day programme between 4-6 June 2025. They will also have discussions with Vice-premier for the Recovery Plan and a Knowledge-based Economy Peter Kmec (Hlas-SD) and Foreign Ministry State Secretary Rastislav Chovanec.
The meeting of honorary consuls will focus on strengthening cooperation, exchanging experiences and further adjusting the network of honorary consular offices in line with the current priorities of Slovak diplomacy. The honorary consuls and state representatives will discuss strengthening bilateral relations, developing economic and cultural diplomacy and assisting Slovak citizens abroad.
