Opposition MPs criticized Defence Minister Robert Kaliňák in Parliament on Thursday, accusing him of overspending and using ministry funds for other departments at the expense of core defence needs.
Tomas Valášek (Progressive Slovakia) cited personnel shortages, while Juraj Krúpa (SaS) questioned NATO-related spending. Gábor Grendel (Slovakia-Za ludi-KU) highlighted overpriced contracts.
Valášek claimed the minister has created chaos in modernization, diverted funds, demoralized recruits, and weakened ties with allies, following an inspection visit by Prime Minister Fico.
