President visits Montenegro to boost EU ties and economic cooperation

Slovak President Peter Pellegrini will travel to Podgorica on Thursday for an official visit to Montenegro—the first by a Slovak head of state in nearly 14 years—at the invitation of President Jakov Milatović. The visit aims to reaffirm Slovakia’s support for Montenegro’s EU accession process and deepen bilateral relations, particularly in the economic sphere.

Discussions will also address the Western Balkans' regional developments, European security, and preparations for the upcoming NATO summit. “A symbolic planting of a linden tree in Cetinje will mark the friendship between our nations,” the Presidential Office announced. Pellegrini will also participate in a business forum in Podgorica and oversee the signing of agreements on academic cooperation, including a memorandum between the Slovak and Montenegrin academies of sciences.

He will be accompanied by Economy Minister Denisa Saková and State Secretary Rastislav Chovanec, along with representatives from academia and the business community.
