Progresívne Slovensko has submitted a bill to lower the voting age from 18 to 16 for municipal and regional elections. MPs Beáta Jurík and Jana Hanuliaková argue that early voting fosters civic engagement and long-term participation. They emphasize that 16-year-olds already make key life decisions, contribute to the economy, and should have a say in local governance, which directly affects education, infrastructure, and community life. The proposal would not change the voting age for national or European elections.
