Bratislava Zoo will reopen on Wednesday (May 21) following two months of closure due to foot-and-mouth disease-related measures.
The zoo has announced on a social network that all animals are okay and healthy, and that it is preparing a big opening event for next weekend (May 24-25).
"The long duration of the zoo's closure had and still has a major impact on our operation and planned activities," stated the zoo.
Bratislava Zoo was closed in March due to nationwide measures taken in order to prevent foot-and-mouth disease from spreading. The opening of the 65th season, scheduled for March 22, thus had to be postponed.
