On the anniversary of the attack on Prime Minister Robert Fico, President Peter Pellegrini warned that unchecked hatred could ultimately destroy society. He urged individuals to decide whether their actions contribute to tension or to peace and reconciliation. Pellegrini stressed that waiting for politicians to bring peace “from above” is futile, noting that political hostility has only intensified over the past year. He expressed gratitude to those choosing peace, saying such actions benefit families and future generations. The president emphasized that politics must be conducted with respect, focusing on service to people—not spreading hate—and called on citizens to actively demand a calmer, more peaceful society.
