At a NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Antalya, Turkey, Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár voiced support for peace talks aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, set to begin Friday in Istanbul. Blanár stated the war should never have begun and emphasized the importance of a peaceful resolution, commending U.S. efforts to foster dialogue—something he claimed the EU failed to achieve. He reaffirmed Slovakia’s willingness to aid in the peace process and stressed the need to balance rising defense spending with national budget constraints. Discussions also addressed preparations for the NATO summit in The Hague and future investments in dual-use projects like military hospitals and critical infrastructure.
