President Peter Pellegrini signed a new law regulating non-governmental organizations on Wednesday. He confirmed that the law is in line with both the Constitution and EU regulations, while promoting greater transparency in the sector. The law mandates the disclosure of major NGO donors and the publication of financial transparency reports. Pellegrini acknowledged the potential for strong reactions but dismissed claims that the law is dangerous or unjustified. He clarified that no NGO would be labeled a "foreign agent" or shut down over minor administrative mistakes. He described the new measures as a fair trade for increased public trust in civil society.
