Slovakia’s Environment Ministry says it is consulting all stakeholders on implementing EU rules for municipal wastewater treatment. This comes after the Slovak Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry Association warned the new directive could threaten access to essential medicines. The ministry says expert groups, including industry representatives, are working on technically sound and widely acceptable solutions. A key meeting in March outlined steps for adapting the directive to national law. The ministry emphasizes its goal is to ensure balanced, expert-driven implementation of EU environmental policy.
