Labour Day, celebrated on May 1, is a “serious and important” national holiday, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) said in a video message shared on social media. He thanked workers for their contributions to creating value.
“I admit, some in our country try to overshadow Labour Day with other events, giving it a different meaning. But for me, as a left-wing politician, May 1 will always be about celebrating labour,” Fico said. He also expressed gratitude to those working on public holidays, including workers renovating the Government Office.
