The lowest interest rates ever seen in Slovakia – this is the present-day reality when potential home owners visit banks to ask for mortgages. Several financial institutions have increased competition in the fight to win over clients by slashing the interest rates on housing loans.
Some banks have even attacked the 2-percent interest threshold, meaning that it is often possible to sneak in less than this amount in some cases. However, after the record pace of debt accumulation on the part of households in Slovakia recently, banks will face an easing of lending next year. This is also due to recommendations given by the National Bank of Slovakia at the beginning of last year.
