European Council condemns attack on Ukraine

The European Council condemned the attack on the Ukrainian city of Sumy, which resulted in at least 34 deaths and over 100 injuries, calling it unacceptable. Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár reiterated Slovakia’s support for Ukraine's EU membership aspirations and the continuation of training Ukrainian soldiers in Slovakia. The Council also expressed support for the peace efforts led by the US administration and emphasized the need for more pressure on Russia to engage in serious negotiations. Regarding the Gaza conflict, EU member states reaffirmed their support for a two-state solution, criticizing Israel for its actions, which go beyond reasonable self-defence. The EU also condemned recent violence, including the deaths of 15 medics and the bombing of a hospital in Gaza.
