Slovak leaders condemn Russian attack on Ukrainian city of Sumy

President Peter Pellegrini, House Chair Richard Raši (Hlas-SD), and Education Minister Tomas Drucker (Hlas-SD) have condemned Sunday’s Russian missile strike on the Ukrainian city of Sumy, which killed at least 32 people and injured 84 others.

The attack targeted the city center during Palm Sunday celebrations, with civilians, including children, among the victims.

“Innocent people continue to die despite talk of peace,” Pellegrini said, urging the international community to push for negotiations, not violence.

Raši called the attack an unjustifiable slaughter: “I strongly condemn this and honour the memory of all victims.” Drucker stressed the need for urgent diplomatic action to bring Russia to the negotiating table.
