The candidate of the coalition party Smer-SD party for the Speaker of the Parliament is the current Education Minister, Peter Pellegrini. This nomination was announced by the PM and Smer-SD chairman Robert Fico, after the meeting of the party's presidium.
The secret vote in the Parliament will take place on Tuesday afternoon, however, the SMER-SD party has already enough votes to pass its nominee. Pellegrini will be replaced at the ministerial post by Juraj Draxler, the current State Secretary of the Ministry of Education.
