Coalition party Hlas-SD is open to discussing the proposal to abolish the transaction tax, introduced by Andrej Danko of SNS. However, they plan to continue working on public finance consolidation. Hlas-SD leader and Minister of Interior Matúš Šutaj Eštok said they are willing to discuss the proposal but also reminded that any reduction in revenue must be offset by other measures. The coalition had agreed on the need for it as part of fiscal consolidation. He emphasized that the previous government’s mismanagement required urgent financial adjustments. If SNS can propose measures to compensate for the 700 million EUR that the tax would bring, Hlas-SD is ready to discuss it. SNS leader Andrej Danko recently called the transaction tax a burden for small and medium-sized businesses and said that if his proposal is not accepted he will demand changes.
