President Peter Pellegrini believes Slovak pilgrims will return from the Vatican with a message of hope—for peace, tolerance, and a better life—after attending Holy Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica on Friday.
“Hope for an end to wars, for greater understanding, and for safety—simply, to be better people,” Pellegrini said, praising the words of Apostolic Nuncio Nicola Girasoli, who noted that “Rome and the Vatican speak Slovak today.”
Pellegrini highlighted the significance of the Jubilee Year 2025 theme "Pilgrims of Hope," calling it symbolic. During the mass, Archbishop Bernard Bober read a message from Pope Francis, who encouraged Slovaks to embrace faith, hope, and peace.
