Slovak kickboxing representation achieved notable success at the WAKO European Championships in tatami sports (light contact, kick light, point fighting), which took place last week in Maribor, Slovenia.
Among the competition of 610 athletes from 35 European countries, the Slovak female team consisting of 8 athletes won 6 medals - one gold, two silvers and three bronzes. The gold medal, which is the first ever achieved in the women's category, was won by Veronika Cmárová, who competed in the Kick light category for women under 65 kg, moreover was declared the best female athlete in this discipline.
