On Wednesday, the Air Service of the Interior Ministry (MoI) evacuated 13 pediatric patients coming from the Gaza Strip, together with their family members, through the activation of the EURACARE Flight & Shelter module. This was the fourth evacuation of patients from this war-affected territory that Slovakia has carried out. The Palestinian children were hospitalized and stabilized in a Greek hospital in Cairo. The Slovak government then partook in the special transport to Zaragoza, Spain.
The evacuation was carried out by the specialized EURACARE Flight & Shelter team, at the request of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (DG ECHO) and the Spanish Ministry of Health. This team already assisted in both the evacuations of Slovak citizens from Lebanon in October last year after the start of the Israeli offensive and from Israel in October 2023 after an attack by the Palestinian militant movement Hamas.
