Slovakia and Hungary are interested in peace in Ukraine being achieved as soon as possible, Slovak House Vice-chair Peter Žiga and Hungarian Foreign Affairs Minister Peter Szijjarto concurred at their meeting in the northern-Hungarian town of Komarom on Tuesday.
"We declared that both of our countries are interested in achieving peace as soon as possible. We don't support any prolongation of the war, and we aren't in favour of people continuing to die in Ukraine, which is why I informed the minister that Slovakia isn't ready to send military troops to Ukraine," stated the Vice-Chair of Slovak Parliament.
According to Žiga, Slovakia and Hungary want to jointly encourage Russia, the United States, as well as Ukraine and the European Union to continue negotiations and achieve a consensual peace.
Žiga and the chief of Hungarian diplomacy also discussed current issues and cooperation with Hungary in the field of energy and gas transit to Slovakia.
