Parliament once again fails to open special session

On Tuesday, April 1, Parliament failed for the second time to open an extraordinary session, where the MPs were set to vote on the opposition’s motion to dismiss Defence Minister Robert Kaliňák. A new attempt to discuss the motion will be made on Wednesday, April 2. The motion to remove Kaliňák was submitted by MPs from opposition parties Slovensko, Za ľudí, and Kresťanská únia. They demand his resignation after it was revealed that he failed to declare the ownership of a villa in Croatia in his asset declaration, which was purchased by his wife. Kaliňák explained that he omitted the villa to protect his family's privacy.
