Head of Slovak National Bank set for new term

Incumbent Slovak central bank (NBS) governor Jozef Makuch should be reconfirmed for another five-year term in the post, with the Government on Thursday recommending that President Andrej Kiska reappoint him.

“European Central Bank's top representatives and the Slovak Government are satisfied with his work,” said Finance Minister Peter Kažimír. Makuch was appointed NBS governor on 12 January, 2010, whereby he also became a member of the ECB General Council. NBS governor is appointed for a five-year term by the president on Government's proposal, which must be approved by Parliament before it goes to the president.
