PS winner of newest poll, Smer in second place

If a parliamentary election had been held in March, Progressive Slovakia (PS) would have won 21.7 percent of votes, followed closely by Smer-SD with 21.2 percent and Hlas-SD with 12.3 percent, according to a poll conducted by agency AKO on behalf of TV JOJ 24.

Also making it to Parliament would have been KDH with 7.8 percent, the 'Slovakia' party with 7.3 percent, Republic with 7 percent, and SaS with 6.6 percent.

Failing to pass the 5-percent threshold, on the other hand, would have been Magyar Szovetseg-Hungarian Alliance (4.4 percent), Democrats and SNS (both 4 percent), and Sme rodina (2.4 percent).

Based on these results, PS would garner 39 seats, Smer-SD - 38, Hlas-SD - 22, KDH - 14, 'Slovakia' 13, SaS and Republic - 12 each in the 150 seat parliament.

The poll was carried out on a sample of 1,000 respondents older than 18 between March 11 & 19.
