Slovakia delays submission of climate plan

Slovakia is one of the last EU countries to submit its National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP), with the European Commission urging the country to act. The plan is essential for using 15 billion EUR in EU funds by 2030 to address climate change. Slovakia's latest draft was considered insufficient, missing a clear approach to reducing emissions, saving energy, and adopting renewable technologies. Slovakia’s high dependence on imported gas, oil, and coal needs urgent attention. EU countries had to submit updated plans by June 30, 2024.
